SPECIAL ARTS FESTIVAL

This event is an opportunity for kids with disabilities to share their talents, art and accomplishments with the community.

The event includes a wide variety of activities in music, dance, drama and visual arts. Guests will also be able to participate in workshops that feature “make and take” arts and crafts using repurposed items. A great way for a child with autism to get involved with their community and to see other kids with disabilities doing extraordinary things.

 

DALLAS CHILDREN’S THEATER

If your child has sensory struggles, Dallas Children’s Theater is a great activity option for them. They offer sensory-friendly plays adapted from ongoing general productions, with lights brightened accordingly and sounds reduced. DALLAS ARTS DISTRICT

This is a great, fulfilling activity without overstimulation, and there’s plenty of sensory-friendly options to explore. Both the Dallas Museum of Art (DMA) and the Nasher Sculpture Center provide Sensory Days. At the DMA, the museum is opened early on certain days for families to enjoy the galleries, art and activities in a more relaxed environment. DALLAS ZOO

If your child is an animal lover, this is perfect. Each quarter, the Dallas Zoo welcomes kids with sensory-friendly needs and their families for a “Sensory-Friendly Day”.
